Because it’s your home, unless what’s there is absolutely perfect, why would you compromise? Someone else’s idiosyncrasies and taste are frequently not your own, appliances are not new, no new construction warrantee protection applies.
Construction quality may be “dated” and not up to modern hurricane/flooding code. Major renovations require a permitting process and inspections as well, often leading to unanticipated costs in bringing an older house up to code. And the cost of have a new house built in Florida is one of the most reasonable in the country, due to labor costs, easy access to materials and uncomplicated design/systems. (Google local builders to verify this , but I’ve seen their bids)
